Esperance Sloansville United Methodist Church is a vibrant and inclusive congregation located in Esperance, New York. Here’s what’s happening in our church and around our community this week:
Worship This Sunday, October 5th, at 11:00 am
Join us as we celebrate World Communion Sunday and two baptisms during our worship service!
Faith Adventure Club this Sunday at 10:45 am
Faith Adventure Club has started up again! FAC meets at 10:45 am on Sundays in the Education Building for age-appropriate faith formation and fun with peers in grades K–8.
Thanksgiving Basket Ministry 2025
This year, our Food Pantry plans to provide Thanksgiving meal baskets to 15 families in our community. We invite the congregation to donate items listed below to support this ministry. Turkey donations are especially appreciated!
Oct 19 – Stuffing mix & gravy
Oct 26 – Canned vegetables & cranberry sauce
Nov 2 – Juice & coffee
Nov 9 – Cool Whip & butter
Nov 16 – Fresh fruit & King’s Hawaiian rolls

Friday, Nov 21, additional turkeys, fruit, and pies will be purchased.

10:30 AM; pickup is at
11:00 AM.

Mosaic Youth Group – Suddenly Sunday! Next Meeting: October 12th from 4-6 pm
We’re excited to launch Mosaic Youth Group: Suddenly Sunday, open to all youth in grades 6–12! The group will meet twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, rotating locations: once in Cobleskill and once in Esperance. (On Cobleskill weeks, carpools will leave ESUMC at 3:30.)
Next Sunday, October 12, we’ll gather at ESUMC from 4-6 pm for food, games, devotions, and a time of connection. Please RSVP with Pastor Alisyn if your youth would like to attend.

Annual Church Conference – Sunday, November 23 at Cobleskill UMC
Our Annual Church Conference will be on Sunday, November 23, at Cobleskill UMC at 2:00 pm. All are invited to join us in celebrating our work as a church over the past year and worship with our Mosaic churches.

Stephanie Gage and family for the recent loss of her father, Alan Diamond. Additionally, please pray for Stephanie's mother, Jackie, for the recent loss of her husband and ongoing health concerns.

Community Events
Esperance Historical Society Soup & Stroll – October 11 at 1 pm
Join us for the annual Soup & Stroll Historic Walking Tour on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 PM, starting at the Esperance Museum (123 Church St.). We’ll explore Esperance’s Revolutionary War ties, including stories of Maj. Gen. Steuben, his aides North & Walker, a traditional Militia soldier, and a soldier captured by the British & Indians—all brought to life with a guide in period uniform.
The tour ends with homemade soup at the United Methodist Church Education Building, Tiffany Community Room (Main St.). Free event; donations appreciated to support the museum. Registration required—get your free tickets here: https://SoupnStroll2025.eventbrite.com

Sunday School to Faith Adventure Club
Our Sunday School (Faith Adventure Club). Ages K thru 8th grade are welcome to come. We meet downstairs in the Education building at 10:45am. Then at 11:20 we proceed to the church for the children's message and the rest of the church service.

Community Outreach
From food drives to local shelter support, we are committed to serving our neighbors and making a difference in the lives of those in need. Our Food Pantry is here to assist. Anybody needing food can receive nonperishable items by calling and making an appointment at 518 248-2185

ESUMC is donating work gloves and green scrubbers. Financial donations needed. Please contact Corky Scranton at 518 727-9368 to give.Buckets will be assembled at the church on March 2nd at 3:00 pm in the Tiffany Room of the Education Building followed by a PotLuck Dinner. Everyone is welcome.
